Hiking
There are countless beautiful hikes in the Zillertal. Leisurely walks with the little ones with great panorama or challenging hikes in alpine surroundings, the choice is enough for many Zillertal stays. Talk to your landlord for good touring tips. Also dig through our hiking guides we provide at the apartment.
Via Ferrata
The Zillertal offers great via ferratas in all level of difficulty, which can usually be combined with a cozy hut stop. Whether children’s via Ferrara or alpine feeling for experienced hikers, 8 beautiful trails are located in the area. If you haven’t done it yet: Book yourself a guided tour at Action Club and learn about this great sport.
Mountaineering
For experienced mountaineers there are great mountain tours, especially in the back of the Zillertal, but also in the Rofan and Karwendel. In addition to the classic tours, which are very busy in the season, there are many delicacies where you will be standing alone on the summit. Imposing surroundings guaranteed!
Canyoning
Your landlord has been a canyoning guide for 15 years, so we recommend such a wet adventure with your family in the beautiful Zemm gorge. Fun and action guaranteed! There are tours for children, teenagers and adults. Best from June to middle of September.
Biking
Although the Zillertal prides itself being a bike destination, this is not really true. In this respect, we are far behind other regions! Nevertheless, there are some beautiful tours with the MTB or e-bike. Fügen also offers several good e-bike rental stations.
Rafting
On a hot summer day, a rafting adventure with the whole family should not be missed. This beginner’s tour on the Zillertal is suitable for children from 6 years. The trip is not too wild, definitely a welcome fun for young and old. – Action Club Zillertal
Tandem paragliding
If you want to see the impressive panorama from a bird’s eye view, we recommend a tandem flight over the Zillertal mountains. An unforgettable experience in summer and winter, ideal for young and old. Run a couple of steps and take off in the sky. When landing, you glide in a sitting position onto the landing field. Choose a nice day with good temperatures…
Golf
Since 2014, the Zillertal has its own golf course. The 18 hole course in Uderns is only a few minutes away. There is two more courses at Achensee – 18 holes in Pertisau and 9 holes in Achenkirch, which is a good 45 min away from Ramsau. Within an hour you reach beautiful courses in Westendorf, Ellmau, Innsbruck, Seefeld, Kitzbühel…
Climbing
If you are a very good climber, you will be busy in the Zillertal for many years, there is so many difficult routes to discover – a true Eldorado! For occasional climbers who are content with alpine grade 4 and 5, the Zillertal is unfortunately poorly positioned. Nevertheless, we have tips for easier routes out in the mountains. There is a nice indoor climbing hall in Aschau.

Skiing/Snowboarding
The main sport in winter is the skiing and snowboarding on the countless kilometers of slopes in the various ski areas scattered over the valley: Spieljoch or Hochfügen, Kaltenbach, the Zillertal Arena in Zell am Ziller, Gerlos, Königsleiten, Mayrhofen, Finkenberg, Rastkogel, Eggalm or the Hintertux glacier – the choice and possibilities are great!
Snowshoe hiking
There are many different tours for snowshoe action, but they are not promoted due to legal issues as well as danger of avalanches. When you are really experienced, you can explore the snow-covered mountains alone, or you better book yourself into a worthwhile tour at Action Club Zillertal. A great and decelerating experience with an impressive panorama.
Hiking in winter
If you don’t like skis under your feet, you can also go on an exploration tour on foot in winter. There are some advertised winter hiking trails in the valley as well as on the top of the mountains, mostly beautiful opportunities for hiking in snowy surroundings. Talk to your landlord for advice – make sure you have proper equipment!
Cross country skiing
Theres is countless kilometers of cross-country trails to explore, especially in Tux and Gerlos, great winter landscape included. In a snowy winter, you can put you skis on almost in front of your apartment and start exploring the valley. Cross country skis and boots can be rented in various sport shops.
Tobogganing
The Gerlosstein toboggan run is 7 km long and mostly in very good condition. The gondola takes the whole family to the top, then it goes back down to the valley on a toboggan track. A break half way at the Sonnalm restaurant is recommended. There are also tracks in Fügen and Tux.
Ski touring
For ski tourers, the Zillertal is of course a top destination. Whether pleasure tours with only a few meters of vert in easy terrain or high alpine tours on one our our 3.000 m peaks – what more could you want! There are countless peaks that can be climbed, if you are an experienced ski tourer.
Freeriding
The valley offers great freeride possibilities, if you are an experienced and well-equipped skier or snowboarder. Hochfügen, Mayrhofen, Zell am Ziller, Hintertux – if you want to book yourself into a freeride course, we recommend ‘Rock on Snow’ freeride tours.

Ice skating
In Mayrhofen and Zell am Ziller there is an ice skating rink where the kids can let off steam with their peers. A nice change for in between, to get them tired. There is also an ice rink at the Erlebnistherme in Fügen just a couple of minutes away from the apartment!
